Procedure
Mount the sunshield to the mounting bracket.
Select the correct angle based on the required camera field of view to cover the target monitoring zone.
Lock the swivel plate in the position before fastening.
NoteConfirm the pitch angle selection before tightening any hardware. Repositioning after the sunshield is mounted requires full disassembly.
If the access plate blocks nut tightening, remove it using a Phillips head screwdriver. Tighten the nuts, then reinstall and fasten the access plate before continuing.
Align the sunshield mounting holes to the mounting bracket. Insert the two 7/16" bolts through the bracket and into the sunshield. Screw the nuts onto the bolt ends inside the sunshield interior.
Feed cables through the cable port.
Locate the cable port on the rear of the sunshield.
Feed both cables through the port from the exterior toward the interior before connecting to the camera.
Leave enough cable slack inside the sunshield to reach the camera's rear connector ports comfortably.
Adjust camera focus.
Adjust the lens focus to the desired detection distance using the provided focus tool, before inserting the camera into the sunshield.
Adjust lens focus to infinity (maximum range) by default. Adjust only if a specific shorter focal distance is required for the application.
Connect cables to Thermal Imager.
Locate the M12 connector ports on the rear of the Axx Thermal Imager.
Connect both cables as follows:
Align the arrow indicator on the M12 cable head with the alignment arrow on the camera port.
Carefully insert the connector straight into the port. Do not force, if resistance is felt, re-check alignment to avoid bending pins.
Once seated, twist the cable collar clockwise until it is finger-tight, then snug with light tool pressure. Do not overtighten.
WARNINGBent or misaligned pins will require camera service. Always verify arrow alignment before inserting any M12 connector.
Fasten camera to sunshield
Place the Axx Thermal Imager into the sunshield housing.
Align the camera base flush with the sunshield lip. Confirm all mounting holes are aligned before inserting any fasteners.
Insert the 1/4-20 screw into the center mounting hole and hand-tighten.
Insert the two 10-32 machine screws into the remaining side holes and hand-tighten.
When all three screws are seated, tighten each fully using a Phillips head screwdriver.
NoteTighten all three screws in a star pattern. Do not fully tighten one screw before the others are started. This ensures even seating and prevents housing stress.
Weatherproof exposed cables.
Route and install weatherproof flex conduit over any exposed cable runs between the rear of the sunshield and the mounting pole or cable entry point. The conduit protects cables from moisture, UV exposure, and physical damage.
Ensure conduit end fittings are fully seated and sealed at both the sunshield cable port and the pole entry.
Avoid sharp bends in the conduit that could pinch or stress the cables.
Secure the conduit at regular intervals using approved cable ties or conduit clips if required by the installation environment.
Each step shall be done before powering the camera.
